If you’ve started researching career coaches online and are still wondering “what exactly does a coach do?” — I get it. There are a lot of coaches out there, each with a different approach. It’s hard to find helpful info online without wading through a ton of jargon and sales pitches.

Here’s how I explain it. Coaches are professionals who can help you:

  1. Get a better job, launch a business, make more $, or whatever it is you want to achieve. A coach is a partner in your success. Think of a coach like a personal trainer for your career. Our only agenda is to help get you what you want.

  2. Get clarity. Most people get so busy that they never take the time to think about whether their work situation is actually working for them. Coaching can create the space and structure for you to explore what it is you really want to be doing with your life.

  3. Make a plan and actually do it. Coaching is action-oriented. Every conversation is designed to create an outcome, next steps and accountability. The result? A quicker way to achieve your goals.

  4. Make real, sustainable change. The most effective coaches work from the inside out. This means addressing the core issues—such as self doubt, assumptions and negative self talk—that hold many of us back. The methodology that I’m trained in, Core Energy Coaching, has been shown through research to help people make measurable changes that lead to sustainable, transformational results.

  5. See new possibilities. When you’re feeling stuck, a coach can help remove blinders and consider new possibilities. This could mean helping you see your challenges in new ways, or suggesting strategies that have worked well for other clients. Remember, our only agenda is to help you achieve your goals.

If anything on this list resonates, or if you’re curious about coaching, you can always book a free 30-minute consultation with me to learn more.
